Dust off those safari hats and get set to embark on an awesome adventure when the Education to Employment (E2E) Partners host the 2nd annual iDiscovery Safari on Saturday, March 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown. Driven by a mission to foster college and career readiness in the Coastal Bend, the E2E organization began the iDiscovery Safari last year to inspire area students from pre-school through high school to dream as big as possible and start planning for their future.
Presented in partnership with over 50 community organizations including the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Coastal Bend College, Craft Training Center, Del Mar College, South Coastal Area Health Education Center, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend, iDiscovery Safari 2014 will connect students with over 70 exhibitors comprised of working professionals and representatives from local schools who can help them make important decisions about educational and professional paths.
Each journey through the safari is designed to engage visitors with each exhibitor, especially at several stations called the “Lands of Learning”, which include the Land of Temples, for careers in construction and architecture, Tomorrowland, with careers in science and technology and the Land of Service, or careers in public service and healthcare. Each station will feature interactive activities and hands-on demonstrations for all age groups from a number of scientists, engineers, architects, teachers, interior designers, veterinarians, doctors, welders and other professionals.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. Treat the entire family to a variety of art and music activities in the Creative Jungle, tune in for story time with our celebrity storytellers in the Adventure Dome or enjoy live entertainment by the Nuecestown Gunfighters, the Chicas Rock Music Camp singers and mariachi and ballet folklorico groups throughout the day. Some of your favorite characters will also be on hand for a meet and greet including McGruff the Crime Dog, H-E-B’s H-E-Buddy and mascots from Texas A&M Kingsville, the Corpus Christi Hooks and the Corpus Christi Ice Rays.
Admission is FREE and open to the public and the event will include raffles for an iPad, other prizes, as well as door prizes awarded on a first come, first serve basis. For more information, please visit iDiscoverySafari.com.
